Miniature Canvas Paintings - Water Creatures
I have been asked to sell my work on consignment at Sakanabooks (Shinjuku, Tokyo). I will be submitting a small painting, the size of the palm of your hand. (The theme of the store is fish and aquatic life books and novelty goods.)
"Starry sky of the deep sea"

In this work, I painted a group of Ophiura sarsii Lutken that covers the deep sea floor as if it were a starry sky. Only one sea pig (Scotoplanes globosa) is seen in this flock.
"Pediastrum duplex"
50 mm x 50 mm, Acrylic paint, 2024
A beautifully shaped species of green algae, known in Japan as "kunshomo" (meaning "algae in the shape of a medal") because it looks like a medal.
"Graduate"

This painting depicts a Japanese tree frog on its way from tadpole to adult to land. It still has a little tail.
